Important: If you booked via Booking.com/VRBO, they are a separate controller with their own privacy policies. This policy covers only Stay Del Rey's direct data handling.

This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use/share it, and the choices you have when you use Stay Del Rey's website and services (direct bookings, messaging, support).

What we collect and why

  • • Contact and booking details (name, email, phone, stay dates, guests) — to manage reservations, support, and confirmations.
  • • Payment details (handled by our payment processor; we don't store full card numbers) — to take deposits and payments.
  • • Government ID/age verification (when required by building rules or law) — safety & fraud prevention.
  • • Communications (emails, forms, texts/WhatsApp) — support history and service quality.
  • • Stay logistics (arrival time, vehicle info, lock codes) — check-in/out, parking.
  • • Device and usage data (cookie ID, pages viewed, IP, approximate location) — site security, analytics, and improvements.
  • • Optional preferences (accessibility needs, pillow type, early/late check-in) — to personalize your stay.

Sources

Directly from you; from your travel companion/booking contact; from OTAs when you book there; and from service providers (payment, messaging, analytics).

OTA Bookings: If a guest books via Booking.com/VRBO, their policy applies, and we receive only the data necessary to fulfill the stay.

How we use your data

  • • Provide and manage reservations, payments, invoices, taxes, and receipts.
  • • Verify identity and protect against fraud/abuse.
  • • Operate in-stay support (e.g., sending access codes and guides).
  • • Improve site performance and content (analytics).
  • • Marketing with consent/legitimate interest (news, local guides, direct-booking offers). You can unsubscribe anytime.

Sharing

We share only what's necessary with:

  • • Payment processors (e.g., Stripe) and banks.
  • • Messaging/CRM and email services.
  • • Cleaning/maintenance partners (first name, check-in/out, unit) on a need-to-know basis.
  • • Platform partners/OTAs when you booked there.
  • • Public authorities or building management if required by law or to protect safety.

We don't sell your personal information. We may "share" limited data for cross-context advertising (e.g., ad pixels) unless you opt out (see "Your choices").

Smart devices & safety disclosures

  • • Smart locks: unique codes per stay; codes expire after checkout.
  • • Cameras: none inside homes. Exterior/common-area cameras may be present for safety and building security (details in your unit guide).
  • • Noise: no audio recording; if a decibel sensor is used, it measures volume only to protect quiet hours.

Cookies & similar tech

  • • Essential cookies (security, session, consent).
  • • Analytics (e.g., GA4) to understand site usage.
  • • Advertising/retargeting (e.g., Meta/Google) to promote direct bookings.

Manage preferences via the cookie banner or browser settings. Opting out may affect features.

Retention

  • • Reservation/tax records: 7 years (legal).
  • • Access logs & lock code metadata: up to 90 days (security).
  • • Support messages: up to 24 months (service quality).
  • • ID verification (if collected): deleted within 30 days after checkout unless needed for fraud/disputes.

We delete/anonymize earlier when no longer needed.

Your choices & rights

  • • Access, correct, or delete your data.
  • • Opt out of marketing at any time.

🏛️ California residents (CPRA):

We honor California rights to know, correct, delete, and opt-out of "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We will verify your request and respond within 45 days (extendable once where permitted). You may use an authorized agent.

🇪🇺 EEA/UK residents:

Requests under GDPR, including data portability and objection to processing. Our primary processing occurs in the U.S.; when transferring data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs) and vetted providers.

Submit requests: privacy@staydelrey.com or use the form on our Support page. We'll verify your identity before acting on a request. You may designate an authorized agent (CA).

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access, MFA on admin accounts, least-privilege controls for staff/contractors, and vendor reviews. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and bookings require an adult 18+ (or 21+ where required). If we learn a child provided data, we'll delete it.

Financial incentives (CA)

At times we offer member pricing, referral credits, or email-signup discounts that may be considered a "financial incentive." Participation is voluntary; you can opt out anytime by unsubscribing. We estimate the value of data based on our good-faith calculation of program costs and expected benefits.

Changes

We'll update this policy as needed and post the new effective date. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
